Meet the team: Mark and Anthony (but no Cleopatra….yet)

Mark

Mark’s first ever record  purchase was Sticky Fingers in 1971. Since then he has become a vinyl enthusiast and music lover of many varied genres.

He is always happy to chat about vinyl!

Anthony

By his own admission Anthony is a throw back 70’s rock enthusiast yet manages to stay current thanks to his children who have taught him that great music didn’t end after the Genesis album Wind and Wuthering in 1976!

Currrent favourite artists include Sweet Billy Pilgrim, Bastille, Steve Hackett, and Elbow.

About Make A Difference with Records

Make A Difference with Records (M.A.D.R.) is the creation of two local Surrey men, Mark and Anthony. Both have had a life long passion for music and for vinyl in particular.

“We wanted to find a way to support local charities in a tangible way and increase their presence in the community. Music is such an important part of people’s lives, and vinyl has proved to be increasingly popular as it is tangible and more personal than digital streaming. It just seemed a great opportunity to reconnect people with music and charities at the same time.”

M.A.D.R.’s partnership with Catalyst and their book shop A Novel Idea reflects the fact that reading and music are great companions. Reading books and listening to music are ways to promote mental health, whether by creating the right environment for reflection, stimulating new ideas, or for pure escapism.

Our vision is reflected in the name, we want to make a difference by raising funds for charity by selling vinyl records. If at the same time we can introduce people to new music or reconnect them with fond memories that would be the icing on the cake.

The Volunteers

The  A Novel Idea shop where we are based is run by volunteers and we would be completely lost without them. We want to thank them from the bottom of our hearts for the time and energy they put into the shop and for making this venture possible. Together we hope to raise a lot of money for charity.
